"Shining the Light in a Dark Place"
Tim & Kim first arrived in Nairobi, Kenya together with their four children in July 1990. After six months of language study they began the Bible Baptist Church of Tena Estate, Nairobi. The first service was held in April of 1991 with 11 people in attendance. Over the next nine years the Lord blessed them in the work as the church grew, bought property, and built a building. A Bible Institute was also begun in the church to train Kenyans in the Lord's work. Two other churches were started during their time in Kenya - the Bible Baptist Church of Thindigua, Kiambu Road - Nairobi, and the Luanyange Bible Baptist Church in Nambale, Kenya. All of these churches are still going strong today under national leadership, and several additional churches have also been started. The Whitfields left Kenya in July 1999.
While in Kenya, the children (Jason, Justin, Kristi, and Katie) all attended Rosslyn Academy. Jason & Justin both graduated from Rosslyn before returning to the USA. Kristi and Katie both graduated from Heritage Christian School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Although only two of the children (Jason and Kristi) are married so far, Tim & Kim have been blessed with seven grandchildren.
Tim & Kim returned to East Africa in July 2004, moving south to the country of Tanzania. After an eight week refresher course in Swahili, they moved to Tabora and began a new work there.
